On some pages, you can enter your name and other contact information to volunteer for the Committee of Seventy, to sign up for periodic emails from the Committee of Seventy, or to submit a question or comment to the Committee of Seventy. The Committee of Seventy also collects “Web server log” information when you visit our website, including:

This information is collected automatically by our server, meaning we collect this information whenever anyone visits our site, regardless of whether the user submits any additional contact information.

• We may use standard Internet tools, such as web beacons, which collect information that tracks your use of our website and enables us to customize our services and advertisements.

Browser information collected on the web site

We log IP addresses, which are the locations of computers or networks on the Internet, and analyze them in order to improve the value of our site. We also collect aggregate numbers of page hits in order to track the popularity of certain pages and improve the value of our site. We do not gather, request, record, require, collect or track any Internet users’ Personal Information through these processes.

We use cookies on our site. A “cookie” is a tiny text file that we store on your computer to customize your experience and support some necessary functions. We also use cookies to better understand how our visitors use our site. Our cookies contain no Personal Information and are neither shared nor revealed to other sites. We do not look for or at other sites’ cookies on your computer.

The Way We Use Information:

When you sign up to volunteer for the Committee of Seventy, we add your contact information to our master volunteer list and our master email list. We do not share this information with outside parties currently.  

When you sign up for periodic emails from the Committee of Seventy, we add your contact information to our master email list. We do not share this information with outside parties.

When you submit a comment or question to the Committee of Seventy, we use return email addresses to answer the comment or question we receive. Such addresses are not used for any other purpose and we do not share them with outside parties.

You may ask us to remove your contact information from our master volunteer list or our master email list at any time. 

We may share your information with other third parties in limited circumstances, such as complying with legal requirements, preventing fraud, and protecting the safety of our users.

“Web server log” information is used to better prepare future site content based on the interests of users. 

3rd Party Advertising Cookies Opt-Out

Committee of Seventy is dedicated to providing privacy on the Internet.  In addition to developing our privacy policy, we have provided you the opportunity to opt out of future 3rd party advertising cookies. 

Committee of Seventy allows third parties to place cookies on our site for advertising purposes. This Online Privacy Statement does not cover the collection methods or use of the information collected by these vendors. These vendors have their own privacy policies and may be members of the Network Advertising Initiative (“NAI”). Our Commitment to Data Security:  

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data security, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. 

However, the Committee of Seventy makes no guarantee that our server or database of collected information cannot be accessed by unauthorized individuals.  

Our Commitment to Children’s Privacy: 

Protecting the privacy of children is especially important. For that reason we do not collect or maintain information on our website from those we actually know are under 13 years old, and no part of our website is structured to attract anyone under 13 years old. 

Links to and from Other Websites:

Our website contains links directing you to other websites. Once you click on any of these links and leave our website, please note that we do not have any control over the other website. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information that you provide while visiting sites other than ours, and other sites are not covered by this Privacy Policy or our Terms of Use Policy. You should exercise caution and review the privacy policy and terms of use policy applicable to any external website. 

Sometimes we post news and other informational material that is prepared by other organizations and individuals not employed by the Committee of Seventy. The Committee of Seventy does not necessarily agree with the opinions expressed in such material. 

The Committee of Seventy is not responsible for the materials or policies contained on any website that provides an external link to our site. 

Changes to our Privacy Policy

We may occasionally update our Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices and services. If we make material changes in the way we collect, use, or share your personal information, we will notify you by sending you an e-mail to the e-mail address you most recently provided to us and/or by prominently posting notice of the changes on our website.
