La Salle University District Attorney Debate on October 19
District Attorney candidates Larry Krasner and Beth Grossman will meet at a debate hosted by La Salle University on October 19 at the new Founders' Hall facility at 723 N. Wister Street. The event will be moderated by Pennsylvania League of Women Voters President Susan Carty and a member of the student body. This event is open to the public. Register online.

Temple University representatives will also be on hand to talk about how their MPP program can be a good option for young professionals. Slay the Gerrymander Happy Hour on October 17
Help us "Slay the Gerrymander" at a happy hour on Tuesday, October 17th! In partnership with Fair Districts PA and Young Involved Philadelphia, Seventy is hosting a State of Young Philly event with a night of bar games to fix American democracy, and bring laughter and fun to the serious topic of redistricting. The Pennsylvania Conference to End Gerrymandering on
October 14
The nonpartisan Fair Districts PA coalition is convening a one-day redistricting conference in Harrisburg for volunteers, supporters, academics, press and legislators. Expect round-table lunches and breakout sessions on redistricting issues of interest. Highlights include discussion of: Committee of Seventy's citizen-mapping project Draw the Lines; an update on current redistricting lawsuits by Thomas Wolf from the Brennan Center for Justice; and the application of math to achieve fair districts lead by the Metric Geometry and Gerrymandering Group. What will the Philadelphia political scene look like in 20 years? Join the nonpartisan Committee of Seventy, the Free Library of Philadelphia and Philadelphia 3.0 for a panel discussion about the future of city politics with veteran political reporter Dave Davies on August 10. Davies will sit down with Mara Kunin, campaign manager for Rebecca Rhynhart and former Obama deputy field director, Dan Pearson, a young Philly GOP board member and former staffer for City Commissioner Al Schmidt, Representative Jared Solomon (PA House District 202), and Omar Woodard, Greenlight Fund Executive Director and former Policy Director for State Senator Anthony Williams. Democratic City Controller Candidate Debate on May 9
Democratic City Controller candidates Alan Butkovitz and Rebecca Rhynhart will square off in a debate on Tuesday, May 9, 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., at Industrious Philadelphia. The event will open with former Inquirer editor and WHYYNewsWorks vice president Chris Satullo interviewing each candidate, followed by 30 minutes of one-on-one debate and a final segment of audience question-and-answer. The Committee of Seventy and The Philadelphia Citizen are hosting the debate with the Crosstown Coalition, and Philadelphia chapter of the League of Women Voters. The kickoff weekend March 24-25 will consist of brainstorming, project design, and hacking with a strong focus on identifying ideas that will meet real needs in our city. Teams will then have a month to develop their projects before demo night on April 25.
